Hey, folks. Thanks to those who checked in with us to make sure we were all right amidst the fires. The fire up near Sylmar has been choking the air with smoke since yesterday. When I got up yesterday, I had to go outside to see the smoke laying on the northern horizon; by the afternoon, the smell of smoke was in the air. I haven't yet been outside today, but it looks kind of hazy outside. We've been keeping the windows closed and the air conditioner on, so we aren't smelling it all day.

Having said that, the fire is far enough from us that our neighborhood is in no danger. From the maps I've been looking at, it seems to be moving northward through the hills. Hopefully the firefighters will have it under control before too long.
